Yeah. Just have to get used to cooler summers and a hotter fall. Can still be in mid 60s here as highs in June. And have 90s in October. But its also always pretty much in the 60s-70 all winter (San Diego).

Im still confused about the point of the data centers other than grift. Say they bring one up. Will Chatgpt suddenly work better? I mean even when it doesn't produce slop its still not useful. Are there 1000s of startups just clamoring to plug their APIs in these things?

Leadership is in a bubble within a bubble in DC. They really really need to get out and talk with normal people. Not just people their chief of staff lets in their office. Consultants and Lobbyists will either have you staying in the minority or jobless. Choose wisely.

Disney has the dumbest management. In a fight between Google and OpenAI its not even close. Google makes tons of money knowing who they are. OpenAI is barely a real company. Let alone its promised 2 trillion to other folks. But sure Disney hitch your wagon to that mess.

What a weird investment even by 1999 standards. Microsoft was basically just an operating system and a bundled "app". You usually partner cause you can share technologies making both entities stronger. I guess if you are Winstar you take the money but MS Word doesn't do much for you.

AGI is like finding a unicorn. And on device models already spit out just as good of slop as the big models for free (and without capturing your data). You just save 10 minutes using Chatgpt or Gemini. So finding the unicorn is the only way this all works. Physics might have something to say.

I mean In n Out still has lines a mile long. Same with Chick Filet. Popeys can have long lines. All the old burger franchises are struggling. Just a dying business. Has been for a while.

I would 100% read a new book from this time period. But then again I really like time periods of "change". Where there is a split between old and new traditions. Shogun (realize its historical fiction). Things Fall Apart (again historical fiction). But hell yeah a book on RevWar. Sign me up./end

I always ask why? Canada didnt have a bloody battle for Independence. And yet are a democracy. Why did we feel the need to? And did we actually learn the right lessons from it? 1/
