Archers addict, choral singer, love my garden and lucky to have my lovely family.
What about shoes for various occasions? Cardigan just in case. Does everything match? Posh frock in case needed. Necklace to go with posh frock? Undies? Umbrella in case it rains. Toiletries? Make up? Books to read. Phone charger. Etc etc etc.

The trains are very expensive in the UK. Less expensive in France.

Yes regular minibus outings to local supermarkets and to the coast and garden centres etc. at very reasonable cost. #TheArchers

Have you calculated the cost of running the car? Servicing, petrol, MOT, insurance and tax? It’s very expensive. My friend’s husband died and she no longer drives and her son worked out that she would still be quids in taking taxis. #TheArchers

Yes true. I’m lucky here, local shops for every day stuff and an hourly bus service to the nearby town. And I walk a lot locally so don’t use the car much. #TheArchers

Sounds very sensible. You have to consider the safety of other road users as well as yourself. I don’t drive at night now, I just can’t see well enough in spite of corrected vision and the car lights are dazzlingly bright. #TheArchers

Mine gave up at just over 80. They managed quite well without a car and saved lots of money, you can gets lots of taxi journeys for the cost of running a car. #TheArchers

Give me a car door to door any time. Flying is an unbelievably tiring hassle. And Phoebe is probably too pregnant to fly. #TheArchers

I will - sounds great! #TheArchers

Tony is 75. I’m not keen on driving and I certainly wouldn’t want to drive all the way to Scotland. Bit of a last minute ask isn’t it? #TheArchers
November 16, 2025 at 8:23 PM
He overslept and doing a bit of last minute packing. Tony hasn’t packed at all. Is it just me? When I go on holiday I am packed by the day before and made all arrangements for getting the dustbin put out and the plants watered etc. I couldn’t go off for a week with 10 minutes notice. #TheArchers

The colours are the best thing in Venice. Beautiful place. Especially out of season!

I like a trip to Lidl. It’s more of an outing than a serious shopping experience. Gazing at all that Middle of Lidl stuff that’s so interesting but no one really needs! Although I did buy a set of screwdrivers once. And their wine is good and inexpensive.

There are some ‘boring’ bits if you’re not really into it, but Elgar does always have a big tune in all his works (Nimrod, Land of Hope and Glory) and that chorus is the one in Gerontius.#TheArchers

Ok thanks Nynzi. I never know actors’ names. I just enjoyed the film. I have sung Gerontius a few times and that Praise to the Holiest chorus is absolutely spine tingling to sing. #TheArchers

Oh ok. He was the one who fancied the Salvation Army girl?

Everyone says Emma spoils George. To me she just has normal motherly love. Elizabeth turned herself inside out trying to get Freddie off. She found it hard to accept that he had been convicted. #TheArchers

Great film. Which one was Brad? Was he the one with the great tenor voice?

Latin and French in your post. Funny how they’ve drifted into everyday usage. #TheArchers

I think a lot of kids go to uni because they can’t think what else to do. They get some level of degree in something and end up with lots of debt and still don’t know what they want to do when they’ve finished. By that time those who didn’t go have usually got a job and earning. #TheArchers

I’m not sure how practical Kate would be. You sometimes need someone to remove the baby for 12 hours so that you can have a bath, a good cry and 8 hours undisturbed sleep. Could Kate do that? #TheArchers

Did he say ‘must of’ instead of ‘must have’? I didn’t hear it clearly. Most people say what sounds like ‘Must’ve’ so you can’t correct that really. #TheArchers

Yes! It’s a great book - by Louise Doughty. Such a page turner.

I rarely watch tv but I made a point of watching that and it was very good, true to the book, but I would recommend reading the book. It was more memorable to me than the tv series and I find this is true in general with films etc based on books. #TheArchers
