Protecting human rights should not be seen as a 'zero sum game'.

Thank you, Wendy. The draft EHRC Code has potential to cause violations of both trans and non trans folk's rights to privacy, freedom of association, protection from degrading treatment and harassment for 'gender reassignment', and to create a costly legal minefield for service providers.

Could not agree more. The idea of the UK leaving the Convention that the UK helped create after 2nd World War in order to protect fundamental freedoms is truly chilling. This seems a very darkening time in UK history.

Completely agree. The fact that so few MPs (and others) actually know a trans person, and what it is to be trans, is a problem. It means they've no cogent answer to the taunts of manipulative transphobic voices in the media. And too blinded by privilege even to speak to trans people, it seems....

I'm sorry to see that news, Christine. Thank you for your courage and compassion in all the support you have articulated for trans people. I hope that @lisasmartmp.bsky.social, as your successor in that role, and indeed all Lib Dem MP's, will strive equally hard to ensure trans people are heard.

Thank you @cajardinemp.bsky.social for asking questions in Parliament to help protect the vulnerable and tiny trans community. More MPs need to do so to expose the false narratives that are peddled in the mainstream media.
