But of course, sadly, it's the same management consultancy/lobbyist/clubbable insider class, who prescribed these failed nostrums of market competition, who then get to write the reports about how they're not working & how the answer is *more market competition*...

In many ways what was done to the BBC, from the days of Birtism, was then done to the NHS. The failed free market mantras of supposedly 'lean' working & outsourcing, resulting in a loss of professionalism & creativity & its replacement with sprawling management bureauracy & massive *inefficiencies*.
