A1: I do my best to take care of myself through spending time with the people I love and through my favorite hobbies…knitting & reading! Big projects can become daunting, so I have to take breaks every now and then. Here’s a preview of the sweater I’m knitting my husband for Christmas! #literacies

Yesss please start knitting!! It’s really something that keeps me sane. Here’s my current #wip and a recent cast off! (The red top in the second picture)

My babies currently don’t care about the tree haha. But they at least won’t climb up it!

Just now joining in tonight, but my name is Caroline and I’m a PhD candidate at Georgia state university. I put up my Christmas tree tonight and I want to know from others when you put yours up (if you do at all!). Just trying to find joy in the little things lately! #literacies

Wearing a garment I made to work for the first time today! Sleeves have an I-cord bind off and the collar and hem are regular rib with all over stockinette. Brought a #wip to work on while my students are doing some independent work today, too. #knitting

Current #wip is the Amess Tee by Pacific Knot! www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... #knitting I got little dog stitch markers in today too, so cute!

Moved this weekend to a beautiful, cute, affordable (!!!) house and I am so grateful and exhausted. The puppies approve!

First knit 🧶 t-shirt is almost done! But I kind of don’t like the I-cord bind off on the bottom…the pattern calls for that on the sleeves and neckline too. I might go back and do twisted rib instead? #wip

Transcribed two interviews yesterday and already got one today! One more before I’m caught up! Here’s some knitting 🧶 progress featuring my puppies before I get into the last one:

Currently all I wanna do is knit and not transcribe, so one of my friends told me to knit an hour, transcribe an hour. Here’s my current knitting #wip! 🧶

A5: My list is always growing, but I want to shout out this article from Rubén González that was published in English Education about abolitionist pedagogy -- it's inspiring! #literacies publicationsncte.org/content/jour...

Yes! Makes me think of this article from Pollock et al., 2022 and the forms of backup that teachers have/don't have... #literacies

I write about this idea of representation (re: book bans & challenges) and why seeing oneself in what they're reading is important for critical thinking, empathy, and showing students that they belong. The opposite is just not acceptable! #literacies

Finished my last day of the school year with students!!! Now I’ve got post-planning, but then my big summer of finishing data collection, analyzing data, and TAing will start. Oh also, the picture is relevant because it was my way of treating myself after the school year lol.

A6: Well, besides our host ( @draliceylee.bsky.social), I just read a great piece from @nicolermisra.bsky.social on racial literacy! (Pic included) I also always go back to Dr. Patriann Smith as someone who knows so much on transraciolinguistics! #literacies

So the new standards website is kind of confusing and purposefully vague. But here's what it says about what our language standards are (this is under American literature, but there is a variation of this same standard for each grade level). #literacies
