My lovely students from the Pompeii module are exhibiting their visual reconstruction projects today in @durhamclassics.bsky.social! They’ve produced some excellent work and I am very proud of them.

It’s the end of term. A lovely term in many respects, but also brutal in its busy-ness and responsibilities.
But…Research Leave lies ahead!! And whilst I have a book to finish and 24,000 other projects to complete, I really am a very happy Caroline.
For now: bubbles. And then, gin.

It’s the end of term. A lovely term in many respects, but also brutal in its busy-ness and responsibilities.
But…Research Leave lies ahead!! And whilst I have a book to finish and 24,000 other projects to complete, I really am a very happy Caroline.

The weather today was Not Good: it alternated between snow, rain, bright sunshine and cold wind.

Spent all day in the office writing, wishing I was outside in the sunshine instead. BUT I wrote many more words of this article than I intended to, AND finished the hardest bit of it so NOW I have a Margarita and I feel that life has somewhat improved.

My Chicago sojourn is at an end! Excellent meeting of the #RomanStatutes2.0 editorial committee, some very valuable project planning and discussion. Plus a weekend with much adored friends to close things out! Thank you Chi-Town, I’ll be back!
