Taught Management, but would prefer to support subversion. Suspect that in my specialism, judgment is more important than knowledge. Think that ‘maybe’ is the most wonderful word in the English language.
Thank you to your family for coming, staying and contributing 😊
my great-grandparents arrived in the UK in the 1890s with nothing.
they sold pickles from the front room window, took in laundry, worked as tailors.
their children were nurses, teachers, salesmen.
their grandchildren were professors, designers, opticians, doctors, magistrates, entrepreneurs.
This is so disgusting.

What about it @pritchardsbookshop.bsky.social may not be possible for February, but…?
I’ve did a Liverpool tour with William Shaw a few years back. I love Liverpool. But I can only go to the shops that invite me! So ask your local bookshop to drop me a line…

I don’t know why but I have become quite scared of making phone calls. I used to be in sales, for goodness sakes!
Anyway today I finally got round to phone so as to make appointments with
Doctors- staff today for training
Opticians- no one answered
Dentist - don’t do NHS anymore
Sigh 😞

I wonder if part of the BBC’s problem is that over recent years, TV news has shifted emphasis from covering events to predicting futures?
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

Really enjoyed reading #RedShore by @william1shaw.bsky.social a hint on the cover that this might be the start of a great new series
My only concern is that being a DS in a William Shaw book is not a great career move, they don’t seem to get promoted! 🤣

We live in an age where the truth, the real or the good are more tricky to define than past ages hoped. Four hints might be helpful:
We need to be
Coherently diverse
Persuadably political
Generously subversive
Tentatively assertive

So, @stevecornforth.bsky.social what’s it gonna be? I reckon a 1-1 draw, my pessimism notes that we never do as well against you Toffees as we should, and everyone says your forwards can’t score so I’ll go for 3-0 Everton
🫣😞

I notice that Nottingham Forest lost again tonight…
I know that it’s not pleasant to enjoy another’s loss, but
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEE 😆🦅

I bought a new one-mug teapot with inbuilt filter. Today I have had my first cup of tea from it. It poured beautifully and the tea tasted so good 😋

We are turning into a Midwest state of the USA 🫣
Not one mention of an opposing viewpoint. The idea asylum seekers should be treated with compassion or dignity is apparently beyond the spectrum of acceptable opinion. Balance simply does not apply in these circumstances.

@pickardje.bsky.social I thought that you might enjoy this photo of an iron man on Crosby Beach
The last rays of the setting sun highlight a passing storm at Crosby beach, creating a wonderful rainbow arched over the Iron Men of Antony Gormley's Another Place, nature and sculpture working together in perfect harmony. #IronMenCrosby #IronMenat20

@stevecornforth.bsky.social It seems the colour darkened! Pretty special! 😮 😊
A blood red sunset last night over Crosby beach as smoke from Canadian wildfires, dispersed through the atmosphere in recent days, reddens the light of the glowing sun at the end of the day.

It’s nail biting! Will Labour stay ahead of the Greens?! They’ve already been overtaken by LDs & INDEPENDENTS for crying out loud! 🙄😳

Oh dear, we’re going to lose to a Manchester club in the final again
😞
Given that it’s the hope that kills, I’m just getting some pessimistic gloom practice in early!
After all, it worked against Villa!
Ahhhh rats! There’s that bit of hope again 😠
April 27, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Well @davidallengreen.bsky.social from a Palace perspective, I’m trying SO hard not to be hopeful. It’s the hope that kills, and Palace always play better when I’m pessimistic 🙄🫣
And we do this for fun!!
Crazy people!

Hampshire are teaching Surrey how they should have played that final innings against Somerset last season.
Careful progress, never loosing touch with the required scoring rate
They’ll be able to assess the risk of making a dart for the target after tea

As Trump is anticipated to put tariffs on semiconductors, I’m left wondering if any of his team have read @edconway.bsky.social ‘s “Material World” for guidance as to the folly of such an act?
Mind you, experience of the Trump team means that I don’t need to wonder for long 🙄
