As a midwesterner in the age of anthropogenic climate change, I have spent many hours in the basement waiting out tornado warnings, @ibogost.bsky.social writes. This time it was different:
First My Mother Died. Then My Home Got Hit by a Tornado.
My street got leveled by 150-mph winds. Why do I feel somehow at ease?

Anyone, any entity, anywhere in the world can just pay him any amount (for anything he promises in return), and there's no disclosure of the payments, no oversight of any of it by anyone, and of course no potential bribery prosecution (of him) because... immune.
