Pushmi-pull-emu 😂 (Twycross Zoo, June 2014)
Two emus (large fluffy flightless birds) are standing one facing left, the other right, and the body of the left facing one obscures the body of the other, so that they look like one large four-legged animal with a head and long neck at each end, like the Pushmi-pullyu from the Doctor Dolittle stories by Hugh Lofting.

Razorbill. Taken on Lunga in the Treshnish isles, several years ago.
Headshot of a Razorbill, from the side. The head is mostly black, with a horizontal white line running from the top of the small parrot-like bill to the small brown eye (with a tiny pinprick black pupil). The bill is also mainly black, but shiny and with a vertical white line across the height of it, which curves toward the head at the top end. The bird's white chest can be seen just below the head, meeting the black area diagonally.

This is one of my favourites of the pictures that I've taken. It's a Yellow-Throated Marten, taken at Twycross Zoo in 2018.

I think he wants to be Wolverine when he grows up 😂

I could have planned this shot for a month of Sundays and never got it. Pure serendipity!
A Yellow-throated marten. This is a large weasel- shaped animal, with a dark brown face and legs, and the rest of him much paler, with the throat area, unsurprisingly a dark yellow. This one is caught in a classic "superhero" pose, one front foot on a tree trunk, the other raised at shoulder height, as if landing after jumping down from a height.

It's Friday, so have a kingfisher. Taken at Caerlaverock WWT at the end of August this year.
A kingfisher perching on a small branch protruding from the water. It's a small bird, with mainly dark turquoise plumage, rust coloured chest and patch behind its gleaming black eye. The blue plumage is speckled with electric blue dots and a little river of electric blue feathers down the back to the rump. Behind the rust cheek patch is a white patch. It's facing slightly away from the camera, showing off the stripe.

The Angel of the North, December 2016
The Angel of the North, a large metal statue of a human figure with wings that are blunt ended and rectangular. It is silhouetted sideways against a sunset sky that is dark blue at the top, paling to white in the centre and shading to orange on the horizon. There is a woman in front of it, reaching up with a camera to take a picture. She is just slightly taller than the statue's ankle height.

That's lovely! I'm in the UK, where we don't have those, but we do have a lot of their relatives, including Long-tailed tits, who tend to congregate in winter.

We call them "ping pong balls on sticks" because of their fluffed up bodies and long tails.
A small bird with a white chest, black markings curving over its eye and widening into a collar across the back of the neck, a black stripe along the edge of the wing and a pal pink patch above that. It's sitting in a twiggy shrub with leaf buds.
