The landowners concerned should be banned from holding shoots. It isn't as though slaughtering intensively-reared pheasants or wild game birds is actually good for the environment.

Labour painted itself into a corner with its stupid red lines. It is time to break those lines and take on Reform by actually talking about rejoining the EU via a new customs union and single market deal. Then get all the anti-Right parties to start piling the pressure on Farage's rabble too.

Yeah, but everyone knew that the Tories were toast. Why waste time kicking them when they were already down and out? Labour weren't a popular choice and people only voted for them to get the Tories out. The Greens had chances to win seats, and that paid off in Bristol Central and elsewhere.

We haven't got a Tory government. Labour is in power. Polanski wasn't the leader of the Greens when the Tories were in power, his focus is on the failings of the current government.

My partner dresses in a very non-binary sort of way and she is also at risk of being challenged by self-appointed guardians of gender purity. I can't see that ending well, she is somewhat forthright in her opinions.

They aren't ignorant, though. They know exactly what they are doing. They are imposing their narrow and conformist view of how society should be onto everyone, regardless of how other people might want things to be. It is an attempt to turn the clock back to the 1950s.

That is probably how a lot of people of the same age group thinks. As I am very pessimistic about the future, I am unhappily in agreement with you. I also think that if what I've lived through is peak humanity, I suspect that we have set the happiness bar far too low.

Since Major, Europhobia has become such a rampant infection in the Tory Party that all the moderate Tory MPs have gone and the party is like a pack of baboons chucking their shit at one another.

Major looks good in hindsight because every Tory leader since has been utterly useless. He is a decent human being and as PM he was strong enough to see off the Europhobic Ultras (he called them Bastards) on the Right. None of his successors were up to scratch.
