My two favourite paintings from the Archibald/Wynne prize at NSW Art Gallery. (The landscape was the winning entry).

Art after hours on a Wednesday is great.

We are having friends over for dinner tonight. It is 28 degrees but he’s doing a Sunday roast (lamb, potatoes, parsnips, pumpkin). He is very very British sometimes. We are also serving Kilkenny beer.

I just received a journal article review advising me to use
Daryl Bem’s advice from a 25 year old article for “how to write a journal article”. This is peak farce, I could not invent anything this ridiculous if I tried.

Another fantastic keynote at #ACPID2024. Amirali Minbashian tells us how why & when personality superfactors, domains, aspects, facets & nuances predict job performance.

Amazing opening keynote by Theresa Dicke at #ACPID2024. So much data supports the idea that inequitable school systems with (private schools, academic stream) harm student self concept and achievement.

I'm looking forward to my fix of #Personality and #IndividualDifferences research at #ACPID2024 at UNSW this Thursday! Should be some great talks + great keynotes on school wellbeing (Theresa Dicke) and workplace performance (my longtime collaborator Amirali Minbashian).

I wish people could realise how much morale is lost - and how much the willingness to go the extra mile disappears - when, thanks to bureaucratic rigidity, you get the sense that your efforts are not valued or recognised.

OK, here’s a doozy🤯

What if I told you that, until very recently, some researchers could infer their grant outcome in ARC’s Research Management System (RMS) at least a month before official release?

Unbelievable, right?
(OK, this is the ARC, so not unbelievable😑)

I saw this guy (a lace monitor, maybe 1.3m) climbing a tree in the Royal National Park on the weekend, near Winnifred Falls. They are so big and so fast!

Congratulations to my amazing colleagues at Usyd psychology, who received ARC funding for research that will reduce pain, social media harms and racism, and help us understand how our brains sense the world while we move around.
