Again with the eye-roll as the car sails harmlessly over his head. Later I say goodbye and he looks like he is wondering if he should feel sorry for me, but doesn't. We are both unsure why I am there.

Then we are in his garden, next to a tall embankment studded with trees & rhododendrons. I'm supposed to be admiring them, but am unnerved by the screeching tires above us & have the TEMERITY to run from the rally car that hurtles over the edge.

I tried- I cajoled- only for Mr M. Collins to walk back, roll his eyes at this idiot who can't close a door, & with one graceful tug, the entire door unfolded like origami and slid smoothly into place. It was hand carved with roses. I ask of he made it. I get a terse yes.
