A United Nations Advocacy Project of the Carmelite Family. The Carmelite NGO has special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations and works in cooperation with a number of other religious NGOs at the UN.

The Carmelite NGO was established to provide a ministry of advocacy for the Carmelite Family. Founded in the early 13th century, the Carmelite Order today includes religious sisters, lay people, brothers, nuns, and priests.
