Better but some unfortunate choices in coverage of Corbyn and supposed antisemitism. Also Gaza coverage has been far off the mark, if better than the bbc which is a low bar.

That’s my point. The 80s were a long time ago but the major literacy crisis is now.

I don’t think we were taught in this way in Toronto, not formally. But elements of this, yes, esp for readers who struggled for whatever reason initially. And I can also see how the prevalent use of (otherwise wonderful) graphic novels & picture books further encourages reliance on context.

I can only compare my experience of getting brain MRIs as a volunteer in a pain study w getting brain MRIs for the cavernomas & regular MRIs for the spine (various hospitals, not pointing at any in particular, I get around!). I was treated w such rare kindness as a study patient I wanted to cry.

Hopefully none! It *would* be emergency. I have multiple cavernous angiomas (little blackberry-shaped conglomerations of thin-walled blood vessels that shouldn't be there) that I hope just stay calm and cool.

I’ve noticed a big difference in sense of care & awareness (or demonstration of awareness of) pt humanity when taking part in a study vs just being a regular patient :( .

This was a really wonderfully written & typically brave piece, @mehlerpaperny.bsky.social. Fingers very crossed 4 you as well as for your contribution to science. (Also relieved to hear good things about brain surgery capabilities at Sunnybrook as my (hopefully never needed) brain surgeon is there.)
