I want to add, that I mention that Waveform Xmas demo only because it shows that SIDs are even useful for Basic programs. The SIDs are great because they're self-contained and run all by themselves.

This demo is also on CSDB btw. A tool to let people modify SIDs to be more system-friendly would be a very big deal. It would allow, for the first time, people outside the PAL region to include the great songs that Europe is famous for. And they'd still work in the PAL area

...manner means that going forward programs using these modified SIDs will play anywhere. Even programs that use a ton of BASIC can benefit. Just one random example; this early Xmas demo is all Basic but for the Snowfall and music routines. But it assumes NTSC so plays very slowly in a PAL region.

The appeal of interrupt driven SIDs is the multitasking and modularity. Crude but it's there. You can just load and run it, and it can be readily used in demos, games, etc. "But it's like that already" you say. Yes, but only in the PAL region. A tool that patches SIDs to play in a system-friendly...

Disgusting.

What about a tool that adds your CIA player at the end of the SID, then it changes the INIT pointer to point your appended CIA player? The SID might get 50 bytes larger but so what?
October 27, 2025 at 9:00 PM
I'm confused too. I thought the idea was to fix SID files so the included player no longer relied on a PAL raster interrupt but overwrote all that with an programmable CIA timer?

BTW June Lockhart died today. Know anyone up for a Lost In Space theme cover (1967 version) for the C64?

I have now met a 3rd random person who said they will never vote for you again because you blocked them, and anyone/everyone at the drop of hat. And they each said they were not alone. I can't confirm that last bit, but, exactly how many people have you blocked on social media? Go look.

@rebelandroid.com what Soupy said. The more friendly a song is, the more programs and demos can potentially work with it. And so more people get to hear the SID song.

Survival of the system-friendliest.

no regard for where people will actually live when the housing costs soar. Econ 101 and Trudeau was blind to it. And oh, those religious clashes in Ontario, the honor killings, etc. That was a wakeup call. Square pegs are a problem.

and thus, they are less likely to go down that road. Trudeau's open door immigration explosion has caused so much trouble in Ontario & BC that they came close to a Trump-lite winning. The resulting housing costs and related homelessness the last decade is squarely a result of immigration with

Hate is arguably just another emotion.
Hate is at times a perfectly understandable emotional response to untenable situations/people.

In Canada everything is "hate" /eyeroll. If they don't moderate they're going to end up electing their own Trump-lite. Though I suspect our Trump has been a warning

@rebelandroid.com speaking of maximizing ZP space for intensive programs, what about ghosting ZP locations? I was shocked the technique works. I would've thought the ghosting overhead would've made it pointless. But some tracker support this. Seems like win-win then if both music & main prg benefit.

What's RE and Origina/Original mean?

@cbmamigacutiesproj.bsky.social I agree, GitHub is inferior to ftp sites of 1990. Github makes simple things complicated.
