Hi Jakub, we have to add that extra +1 due to how PubMed counts terms. PubMed starts counting at 0 while we start counting at 1. Try query "hip replacement"[tiab:~3] and find for record with PMID 33560326. In Embase NEAR/3 won't pick it up while NEAR/4 will. Happy to discuss it further if needed.

Thanks for your thoughts. We have a new workflow for terms that translate to candidate terms on Embase for users to be aware. Maybe we can do the same for supplementary concepts. Will definitely check it out.

On Embase.com you you can just copy a list of your keywords (with OR in between them) into the Advanced search and click only the box “Map to preferred term on Emtree”. This will generate a query where every term that’s mapped to Emtree will be displayed with /de

@libraryvines.bsky.social We are aware of this bug and will be fixed in the upcoming release. It’s due to the fact that we use boolean operators to break terms but the problem with that are terms with AND or OR are split.

After this, we’ll be tackling the issues with subheading translation (subheadings with terms combination that are better translates with just en Emtree term for example) and a better translation MeSH/Emtree with suggestion of terms to be added or removed.

Still not a public roadmap built but we are now working on a few things that were left out for the beta version. Those are proximity searches, ability to change free text field codes, ability to add/remove terms after translation and improving error messages.

If you want you can email me with your query at c.rodriguezdelrio@elsevier.com so I can take a look at it. Happy to help.

The hard limit is around 200.000 character but we recommend not to pass 150.000 as it might cause some errors if there are a lot of load in the system. It could be another kind of error as all errors are giving this 400 one.

For now, we do the mapping by searching the MeSH term on Emtree and return the preferred term. We are aiming to analyze the differences in the branches to make a more accurate translation but will happen next year.

So far you cannot edit the translated search and you’ll have to use either the advanced search or the results page for that. We’ll be improving the tool during 2024 and edit the searches is top on our list.
