Bonne Saint-Jean! J'aimerais tellement que ce soit un jour férié pour tout le Canada pour célébrer notre belle francophonie. Peut-être un jour. ⚜️

It’s time we have a serious talk about Leafs ticket prices. Our arena is not an intimidating place to play in. It is not loud. Fans are not in their seats for puck drop. We need a European-style supporters section with affordable tix for fans who will be grateful to be there. #Leafs

The next 20 minutes have the potential to be some of the worst or greatest in Leafs history. I’ll remain optimistic. #GoLeafsGo

Watching Trump, Rubio and Vance laugh at the idea of building high speed rail between SF & LA when there are "planes and highways that aren't being utilized" makes me so thankful we are not (totally) that car-brained in Canada.

Holy smokes is Danielle Smith a cancer. "I don't support Albertan independence but I will constantly bring it up and will make it easier for it to become a referendum question"

Poilievre's French has never been excellent, but he really seems to be struggling today in his post swearing-in presser. There's a more noticeable English rhythm, he has messed up "libéraux" vs "libérales" multiple times, and he's mispronouncing words he normally says fine. Strange.

I wonder how complicated it would be to change the oath the PM-designate makes when being sworn in. I'd like to see all mentions to the King replaced instead by mentions of Canada, its land, and its peoples.

TIL that only one premier in Canadian history has ever gone on to become prime minister, and that it hasn’t happened since 1892!

A valiant effort from our soon-to-be 11th province. Their premier should be very proud

The high-speed rail announcement is incredibly important. This needs to happen and it needs to be very well planned. www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...
Trudeau selects consortium to co-develop high-speed-rail line between Quebec City and Toronto
Government did not provide estimated cost for the project, which will include stops in Peterborough, Ottawa, Montreal, Laval and Trois-Rivières

We even have a name (which I love)! Being Canada, we needed one that worked nicely in both English and French, and I think we nailed it

Lots of things about the HSR announcement have me feeling really good. While I understand the cynics, we've never ever gotten this far before in Canada. Yes, we've done an infinite number of HSR studies, but this is the first time we have chosen a bidder and have moved on to the development stage

I just want to leave some documentation for future me that today was a good day.

The Ontario Conservatives have a rich history of transportation policy failures including:
-Filling in an under construction subway
-Selling a massive highway (now worth $30+B for $3B)
And now, tearing out one of the continents best bike networks.

The only way to stop Doug Ford is to defeat him in an election, and that is seeming highly unlikely at this point. If only we didn't have to split the left leaning vote.

This Doug Ford bike lane fiasco makes it clear that we need to revisit the constitution's current designation of municipalities as an "extension" of provincial powers. Cities in this country need real protection from government overreach.
