I think so. They called them something like EyeQ or IR block. The coating appealed to me because I spend a lot of time staring at screens or in the sun so I bought it to protect my eyeballs from further damage. I imagine that's helpful for migraines too.

If you're masking with these glasses I assume the photo match looks at your eyes can try to ID. But it's missing half its data, so it might slow things down.

I wouldn't put anything past the shadiest security companies being able to mix tech for better outcomes. But in theory seems it should help

Using a photo is different than how infrared identifies people. A normal camera can see your eyes through these.

Infrared usually measures your proportions on your face, primarily your eyes'. When the infrared can't see your eyes, it has trouble matching you. Most instant ID tech uses infrared IME.

When I wear these facial recognition can't get me with or without the mask on.
October 27, 2025 at 3:17 PM
I'm just gonna say, Ive had these glasses for ~3 years. I didn't know it was identity protection, it wasn't marketed like that at the time. It beats almost every type of facial recognition, private or public. I used to think the tech just struggled with eyeglasses. Anyway, recommend.

They're fine if the fit is good, you can also get an anti fog coating that helps a little.

Yeah this is happening at my job. I am skeptical on AI so I track the hours carefully. It either takes longer, or the output is noticeably worse.

No execs involved in this decision have bothered asking "Why would someone take time to read something we won't take the time to write?"

Or just say "let's be quiet while the movie is playing and I'll tell you after." Wonder if he's been around a child before

If you're not practically committing fraud against your company during work trips to get random free bullshit, you're doing work travel wrong tbf

The insistence on voice control is so confusing to me. I don't want to talk to my devices. Can you imagine an open office concept where people sit around and yap at their computers? Fuck that
August 14, 2025 at 1:05 AM
Why was the guy talking to them like he was just going door to door selling solar lmfao
August 12, 2025 at 6:42 PM
Same, pretty sure they're all doing this to us so they can have secret meetings about cat business
August 12, 2025 at 6:07 AM
YES. Around 1:30 to 2 am he starts biting my legs, then herds me to the sink and watches me brush my teeth. Then he doesn't even come into my room at all, he just waits by the door while I get to bed...

I photographed a couple football games. Besides getting a few star players, the next most important thing management will say is photographing the cheerleaders. Cause they get about as many hits as the football players get.

Despite this they're not celebrated the same... Funny how that works

Something to help people see the scope of AI psychosis - Grok's conversations on Twitter are still public and users don't seem to understand this.

If someone asks grok more than 3 questions in a solo convo, 90% of the time they think they're unlocking the secrets to the universe...

Meant to say "most of these are total rebuilds" but lost it while I was editing for character count.
August 4, 2025 at 5:16 PM
I'm wondering where you're hearing that they're totally new rebuilds. people in the industry have told me a lot of these are in old industrial buildings, often without the city's full knowledge. I think there's a big undercount here especially since it's faster to retrofit than build new.
August 4, 2025 at 5:15 PM
This is mostly true, and then to make matters worse, they often destroy the interior of these buildings. The server infrastructure simply can't fit through the mill doorways.

BTW, quite a few cities are currently getting mills bought up en masse and have no idea they're about to be used like this.

Still reading so not sure if you account for this, but all of these services require a lot of physical infrastructure. And big cloud computing providers are running out of "real estate" as we speak. They are actively turning down money from potential clients since they can't acquire enough

Let's pump this guy full of crack and run him in 2028. I think everyone can get behind this one

According to WHO the USA has a 68% higher suicide rate per 100,000 people. These numbers are even more stark in European countries.

That was a good zinger in the 2000s but that was 25 years ago. Get some new material.
