Anchorage-based photographer and writer, seeking to make deeper connections with nature through my camera, and to share it with others. Navy veteran. Associate Fellow, ILCP. Owner Alaska Photo Treks and Greatland Graphics.
I am currently in Reykjavík for the Icelandair Mid-Atlantic tradeshow to promote the photo tours and workshops we offer through my tour company, Alaska Photo Treks. Beautiful weather yesterday, but a crappy day today. Good day to be indoors checking the tradeshow venue before it starts tomorrow.

This photo really encompasses my philosophy of nature photography.

I was in Gates of the Arctic National Park & Preserve with a park ranger and his nine-dog team. While out mushing on a frozen river one day, we stopped to give the dogs a break. I wandered around and found this set of wolf tracks.

I am new to this platform, so I’m going to do a series of posts introduce you all to who I am. I am nature photographer. I don’t use photography to document nature, but to make deeper connections to it. I live in Alaska, so the aurora borealis is a subject I have spent a lot of time connecting with.

This is one of my favorite locations to photograph along the Turnagain Arm south Anchorage. Last year, I was disappointed to see these miniature canals filled with silt. I’m happy to see them open again and providing a wonderful compositions. I so deeply enjoy being so familiar with a place.
