I’ve watched lectures and listened/watched to material to familiarize myself with the ideas of Surveillance Capitalism. But finally having a book in my hands, on top of the ideas I can’t help but admire how magnificent Shoshana Zuboff’s prose is. Amazing thinker, beautiful prose stylist.

I’m very privileged to have been invited by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP) to deliver this lecture on #ArtificialIntelligence and Visual Journalism. If you have time this Tuesday morning come through and join the conversation!

just to play and enjoy the full features of a game. I’m a solo player, I enjoy time to myself to explore and lose myself in games. The higher price I would happily play to have a peaceful experience the way I want it.

If you love grunge music, want to watch a good gig, or are interested in hanging out and seeing my band, Multosonic, play, this is our first (of hopefully many) gigs this year. We are the opening act for a bunch of very cool bands. Can’t wait for this!

I decided to test what DeepSeek would say about PH-China tensions in the WPS. It censored itself! Attaching screenshots of it

Today’s reading. What a fantastic collection. Some stories I’m revisiting as I read them elsewhere, some new to me. I’ll read anything @visyap.bsky.social writes. And if all goes according to plan, I’m excited to discuss her work in my class next sem.

From Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Black Panther. Hits too real. Also while this continues to be true for our collective colonial pasts, this could also apply to your tech-empire future

It’s taken a few years, but I have accepted and embrace that my main genre to listen to, and to play on guitar, is Dad Rock.

After reading and hearing so much about Paris, Texas, I finally watched it (making the most of that @mubi.bsky.social subscription!). What an absolutely breathtaking film. It’s a study in tension and release and by the end, it’s just an emotional torrent. Wow

This lineup is wild! Can’t wait to see it all tonight.

Rather than trying to hear all the analysis about why people vote against their interests or why elections turn out the way they do, I find watching Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior more informative. It shows the world we seem to be headed into. Yeah people would choose this, and some dream of it

This is what I’m watching tonight. Really showcases Taika Waititi’s creativity and unique voice. Also started Interior Chinatown this week, which I’ve been loving too.

Really loved this. It’s short and sweet and gives you what you expect from a Superman story but also has surprise and delight packed in.

Was reading updates on the beef while listening to Kendrick’s amazing new album. I swear this is hilarious (source: Mashable)

In the last couple of days I watched No Other Land and read The Message. I think it’s important that we have art like this which allows us to understand what is happening in our world on a deeply human level. Strongly recommend both works.
