This is a nice idea. Household finance is much better than banking IMO. I think probably MPCs would be best (if that counts as finance). Or, perhaps something about the effects of exogenous credit on mortgage demand.

I partly disagree with the other comments here. I think the answer is that it depends on what field your are in and what the post doc is. The Harvard society of fellows is harder to get than most TT academic jobs, but being a post doc for some random lab is not necessarily hard to get
