I see it in Montreal, however I think "MTL" is wayyy more common vs "YUL".

I never saw it growing up in small town BC, I only saw it once I moved to Victoria. So I think it's more common in bigger cities, which makes sense. No one in small-town BC was claiming the nearest airport 2 hours away.

The best way to find out that your "unique" thing is not unique is to find a YouTube video that's just 20 minutes of roasting the whole subreddit. You get to be welcomed into a community and then immediately roasted, very cathartic

Lol this is such a good point. It's like they're saying "upgrade your boring to more boring, but now with annoying AI features"

Coming from BC, this law shocked me when I got here! I love it, I honestly feel way safer as a pedestrian. I still have my head on a swivel whenever I cross any road but I don't have to play the guessing game of "does this person see me? Did they forget to put their blinker on? Will I die today?"

We'd love to see you in Montreal ❤️❤️❤️

Valid for sure

I'm not finished the video yet, but I'm so curious why you refer to that one guy as a heartthrob every time. I feel like it's a chess joke I'm not getting...

I understand that you're trying to just make a catchy post, but ragging on people who didn't vote as inherently not deserving of representation ignores too much for me to scroll past. I encourage you to look further into this and listen to the voices of those who cannot or choose not to vote

Hell sometimes even I feel conflicted to participate in a system that I think is broken and needs serious work, and my ancestors were the ones doing the colonising so on paper the system is built for me and I benefit much more from it just by virtue of being white.

Indigenous people are not a monolith and, again, I don't speak for them, but I think it's really fucking easy to empathize with them. Many indigenous people do still vote, especially when they feel they will be heard. I respect their reasons to participate or not.

Indigenous people don't feel heard in Canadian government because things that are important to those communities don't get done. They have been abused, colonized, and discarded, would you want to participate in that system?

2. A lot of these "did not vote" areas tend to have a larger population ratio of indigenous folks, and this is important. I'm not indigenous so I won't speak for them, but my understanding is that most are very conflicted in participating in a system that basically ruined their lives.

1. Places with lower populations generally get ignored and don't have good access to vote. There was literally a report this year of a voting centre closing SEVEN HOURS EARLY in a remote community, they had like 2 hours to vote. This is not the first time this has happened and it will happen again

I kinda see what you're saying here, but you're missing/ignoring two major points:

So happy to see a lot of love for Annihilation. In my opinion it has some flaws and weird story bits, but I think about that movie more than most. I HATE scary movies and this movie TERRIFIES me, and yet I've seen it like 3 maybe 4 times. The nightmares just feel worth it sometimes (rarely)

Nah, Harry Potter is dead to me. Any endorsement of that franchise is endorsement of JKR and her racist, misogynistic, homophobic views. Do we want to give her more money? Are you really down with that man? 😞

As a fellow Canadian I absolutely thought this was an April fools joke for the first bit. I rolled my eyes at "32 floors" and said "absolutely no way this exists" only to find out it does. I will now listen to the rest of this episode in bewilderment

The Wachowski sisters 👏👏

Megan Park with "My Old Ass", Celine Song with "Past Lives", Justine Triet with "Anatomy of a Fall", some of my favorites have been directed by women! Canadian Nicole Dorsey did some awesome work on "Balestra" and everyone involved in Love Lies Bleeding take a bow 💪💪

One of the many reasons I swapped to StoryGraph was because they have community-tagged content warnings. After being blindsided too many times I needed a solution.

Obviously I wish authors would do it themselves, but to give yourself some peace of mind maybe look into StoryGraph? Stay safe 🫂

Thank you for the correction! I was digging through scraps on the internet and making a guess 😅
