I lost a home in a forest fire in 2020. It started in Aug and burned until the first rain of Dec. The firefighters busted their ass everyday. They work in dangerous conditions and these assholes talk shit. They don't understand fire science. One spark+high winds=fast moving, uncontrollable wildfire.

You might want to take a look at the government pay schedule. If you're a GS3 to GS5 You might not be saving much unless you are single.
I have friends who are federal firefighters, they do well when on fires but they're base pay isn't enough to raise a family.
