But perhaps some day, not too far in the future, the public won't be told anything in advance -- and just a handful of close-minded zealots will get to decide what books are on the shelves of the libraries that we all pay for.

If they don't seem eager to publicize what's going on, or to face a large audience, I understand. Book-banning isn't so easy when actual library users show up and speak out. This is true all over the country.

It will be a big day in the spotlight for Monty, who ran for the school board in 2022 and didn't do so well. It'll also be a big day for the rest of Hernando County's Moms for Liberty, whose modest membership numbers mean that they can conveniently ride to the meeting in the same Dodge minivan.

The group is scheduled to meet at the West Hernando Branch in Brooksville on November 4 at 1:00 pm, though the agenda has not yet been published.

It's not quite a done deal because the Hernando County Library Advisory Committee, upon which Monty (the lone Dad for Liberty) sits, hasn't yet officially voted to yank FEVER BEACH from library shelves.

The vice chair of this particular Moms for Liberty chapter is actually a dad named Monty Floyd, so it's either a very small group or a very woke group. Regardless, my publisher is elated because, as any dummy knows, banning a book always boosts sales.

Some of the country's most popular and well-known authors are on Florida's hit list, so I was honored to learn that the Moms for Liberty in Hernando County are hoping to ban my latest novel, FEVER BEACH.
