Today, in Utah, homeowners *or renters* can simply buy a solar panel at Costco, take it home, and plug it in to a wall socket, like an appliance. It just sits there & trims about 15-20% off a residential power bill. If you move to another apt., you can take it with you.

Also the “costing the economy” framing is bizarre. Like bicycle owners are “costing the economy” because they don’t buy gas or tires or new cars….

Seattle used to have a lovely express bus from downtown to the airport and a couple of airlines would even let you check your bags at the bus stop. Then they built a train that took 2x the time and let you out kilometre from the terminal. After that they ended the bus service.

Yes, and give it a dedicated lane all the way up. 35 mins from downtown to YYJ, any time of day, any weather.; running on the half hour like a hotel shuttle. 45mins to the ferry terminal. With bike racks.

For $40k I cpull finally get that custom nickel plated bullitt XL with Campagnolo super record I‘ve always wanted. With cash left over for a brace of Bromptons to fit on the cargo deck.

”Fenders” are a $50 USD option. I do note that the rear fender will keep the operator dry, but will not protect the person riding behind this bike.

Maybe I write them letters, letting them know that the cities investment in bike infrastructure has made my custom possible, and asking them to support additional safe infrastructure for pedestrians and E-bikes.

Abus lock. At most stops, my bike was in sight for most of the time because I parked right in front of the business in question.

And at every stop, I parked with 5m
(15’) of the front door of the establishment in question.

E-bikes are very disruptive; I ran errands yesterday, making 15 distinct stops in about 5hrs, which would be absolutely impossible with a car.

The businesses in this building are beloved by our family. The toyshop, the craft lab, the pharmacy, the antique shop, all have been a key part of our life in oak bay and it breaks my heart to think about losing them.

Government street, and neighbors seem to be doing pretty well… how about more bike lanes and replacing the city owned parking blocks with Singapore style 30 story housing towers. (2 and 3br) Adding 10k car-free families downtown would do amazing things for the vibrancy downtown.
