I’m not sure moderating a flat-structure community the size of Bluesky is even possible to do _well_, but it’s certainly possible to do better than it is currently.

Just look at how the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or post-reboot Doctor Who, has got so bogged down in all the accumulated continuity that they have to spend hours explaining themselves into internal consistency, and can't pretend to happen even in a close analog of our "real" world any more.

Yes, I stole that joke from Kill James Bond. But it does kind of make the point that strict continuity in long-running fiction is a liability, not an asset, and writing stories specifically for the person who's going to write the wiki page or video explainer is a mistake.
