It's getting there, but I don't think it is worse yet. ICE gassed a Halloween parade route just blocks from me. I think its more that people expect violence in Chicago. My family happens to mostly live in MN & I have a feeling even they dismissed my anger as excessive until the last few days.

Are you angry about the fact that he implies the ice kidnappings could be seen as arguing policies from his detractors even though for him it is a moral issue so he feels he needs to say something? He says that not saying something about politics for the sake of your audience is morally repugnant.

I wouldn't label oil baron Norway as "Democratic Socialism." It has some social policies, but it's definitely capitalist. No country is "Democratic Socialist." My pov: true socialism won't work nor last long in a democracy. Pushing for social policies and safeguards in a market economy is better.

Some form of capitalism is indeed good. With the right checks it incentives innovation, competition, productivity. Marxism ignores human nature; Capitalism exploits it.

My background is finance and economics. No economist I know would argue for pure capitalism (it leads to monopolies, corruption, etc.). The lack of understanding of basic economics has fed fear of any social program. Extreme economic inequality has a past. It was called the dark ages for a reason.

They do seem to be doing most of their enforcement on the Chicago northside, which is mostly white and more affluent. The only time they risked a trip to a more "dangerous" part of the city they had to use Blackhawk helicopters so take that for what you will.

Trump isn't rational. He doesn't care about material cost, and his relationships are transactional. He hates Ukraine b/c they didn't lie about Biden. That's why he stopped the aid. The only way for US aid to start again is him hating Putin more, which may be a thing depending on Russia does now.

If it gives you any comfort, Iran was a key Russian ally. Losing them will only benefit Ukraine. I hate Trump and am furious tonight but silver linings I guess.

May be a little awkward. He called out JD Vance on twitter earlier this year. Seems like things came around circle. JD Vance visited the old Pope and the Pope dies right after. Now his critic becomes the new Pope.
