Thank you, Fairbanks! What an incredible kickoff to our 2026 campaign!

I'm very proud to announce Scott Kawasaki and Elvi Gray-Jackson as campaign co-chairs. They are both close friends and leaders who know exactly who I am and what I stand for.

At my 2026 campaign kickoff in Fairbanks this week, I laid out my goals for Alaska’s future. Strong schools, smart energy policy, and leadership decisions made for Alaska by Alaskans. Read the full News-Miner article below.

My thoughts are with everyone in Juneau as the community deals with this unfolding disaster.

I want to recognize and thank the first responders, emergency managers, public safety officials, and volunteers who are working around the clock to respond to urgent needs and keep people informed.

Some people complain about how long it takes to get final election results in Alaska. What they forget is that this timing is Alaska law. We take the time to count every valid ballot, including ballots from our military members, because every vote deserves to be fully and fairly counted.

Ranked choice voting gives Alaskans more voice. It lets voters rank candidates in the order they prefer, even across party lines. If a candidate is eliminated, your vote can still count toward your next choice.

I’m disappointed to see another effort move forward to repeal Alaska’s ranked choice voting system. Alaskans have been asked this question before, and time and again voters have made their choice. That decision should be respected.

Thank you to everyone who took time to talk with me and show me around, and especially to Senator Scott Kawasaki and Stuart Relay for being such welcoming hosts.

I’ll be back in Fairbanks often. Fairbanks will be a central part of my campaign as well as my work as Governor.

I had a wonderful time in Bethel this week. Speaking with leaders, residents, and students made it clear that high energy costs, food insecurity, housing shortages, and aging infrastructure are felt every day by residents.

I had a great conversation with KYUK while I was there.

I’m in Bethel today hearing from residents about nearby Napaskiak, where power has been out for days after the ice storm and a burst pipe has cut off running water, forcing people to travel 10 miles for food and fuel. No community should face freezing temperatures without basic utilities.
