Our WNC community has been showing up all year, but today’s #NoKings protest in Asheville was exponentially larger than anything we've seen before. People spanned blocks in every direction downtown to turn out for this peaceful, joyful celebration of our values and in defense of the country we love.

Great turnout for a joyful gathering in Asheville today to stand in solidarity with workers rights, and against the billionaire agenda that is destroying our democracy and our planet. The people united can build a better future where we all can thrive. #WorkersOverBillionaires #LaborDay #UnionStrong

Impressive turnout, an extremely fired-up crowd, and powerful speeches by Bernie Sanders, Rev. William Barber, and several local organizers at the Asheville stop tonight on the Fighting Oligarchy tour. Event staff said that more than 7,500 people registered and close to that many were in attendance.

This is what democracy looks like. Asheville, North Carolina stood up and showed out today for the #HandsOff Day of Action with many thousands of people resisting peacefully and joyfully. This was medicine and fuel. Onward!

Brass Your Heart radical marching band kicking off the #HandsOff Day of Action in Asheville – just one of 1,000 events happening across the U.S. today. The 6.5-acre Pack Square Park is already overflowing and the event has only begun. The power of the people is greater than the people in power. ✊🏻🇺🇸💪🏻

Don't get sidetracked by the noise!

While Trump's executive orders dominate the headlines, remember that Republicans are quietly pushing legislation like the SAVE Act, which would disenfranchise millions of American women and people of color.

Mind-blowing crowd shows up to confront Congressman Chuck Edwards at his town hall at AB Tech College in Asheville this evening. The auditorium filled, and this was just the overflow. I've been to my fair share of protests in Western North Carolina over the years, and never seen anything like this.

Epic turnout and incredible energy at the #WomensMarch in downtown Asheville for #InternationalWomensDay.

The resistance is growing. The cracks are showing. Breathe deep, lean in, keep going.

Hands down, best Super Bowl spot, and one especially close to my heart and my community. From Asheville floods to LA fires, climate change is taking the places we love. For the sake of future generations, it's our responsibility to acknowledge the problem, address the causes, and advance solutions.

Our infrastructure’s vulnerability in the face of increasingly extreme weather events was all too clear near my home in Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene, when the state counted 1,400 landslides, and reported damage to more than 6,000 miles of roads as well as 1,000 bridges and culverts.

As a parent, I find late summer to be this dynamic cocktail of simultaneously willing time to move just a little bit faster, while also lamenting its swift passage. Then before we know it, they're off into a new school year, and we continue the dance of holding on and letting go in the next chapter.
