I care about the earth and enjoy researching information each time my curiosity sparks without warning. My searches contribute to growing more trees, so I have deleted Chrome and now exclusively use Ecosia for all my internet things! It’s equally as easy to use as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.
So many trees of more than 900 different species have been planted thanks to a fairly small number of people around the world. Ecosia’s profit transparency is accessible at any time. It also provides details of their tree planting projects for the user to be informed of what their search entries do to impact the earth’s ecosystem, one tree at a time. I would like to see for myself how Ecosia generates their energy and how much of their solar panel usage truly powers their grid, and how much (how little?) their reliance on fossil fuels truly looks like.

Don’t want to support Google anymore for searches, but not sure what to use to check information online? I’ve been using Ecosia since 2017, which is a German-based search engine and web browser, dedicated to planting one tree per search entry. They have an app! I’m sharing bc it’s not well known 🌳🌲

Ecosia places its search profits into work that supports the environment and in response to climate change. Ecosia is transparent about their profits, allowing users to see where those funds are going to maintain their climate action efforts with newly planted trees.
