He likely has insurance through his union. That insurance likely covers the standard of care for CRC. He refuses to say what he's spending the money on. He and his wife are antivax. He might also legitimately not be able to afford his deductible and co-pays, but why not just say that then.

Has this specific guy said he was too poor to make insurance payments? He's very pointedly said he won't talk about the course of treatment he's pursuing. The American medical system is flawed but I'd be wary that this celebrity's experience is indicative of anything without further information.

Insurance paid for all of my wife's colorectal cancer treatments. I refuse to believe this guy can't get chemo covered and is instead raising money for some kook to balance his humours by shooting ghosts inside him.

The point of contrast here for Williams is that poor people don't support the right, it's the "middle-status" precariat who support the right.
