I just noticed that the Monon rush hour through trains skip Hammond Gateway, which is really really weird. Especially because the Monon and mainline trains have their own separate platforms (that are decently well connected)

It is now my goal to work this quote into the video somehow

But it’s probably better when they’re doing less track work. Would have to dig into the past data

Their on time performance is not great either, so some of those waits will probably be longer

Seems like the downtown transit center is far from set in stone but demolition is, so hopefully the new stuff does come to fruition

I do have mixed feelings about that part. Apparently they’ve been vacant for years, but some buildings right around there have recently found new life. And I’ve been around Galesburg long enough to know that when downtown buildings come down the lots stay vacant for a very long time

Which is rare lol also for some reason you can only board the SW Chief eastbound from Galesburg. The CA Zephyr is drop off only

Yup! You have the Zephyr at 2:00 and the Chief at 2:25. A brief window of un-sustained 25 min headways lol

Definitely true! It really is a transit hub for that whole area since Peoria & the QC don’t have trains to Chicago
