My double standard is "two different old people have had different political capacities." Schakowsky is not nearly the politician that Sanders is. And yes, 89 is too old! The analogy I've been operating on is Lamb v 83yo Sanders. And my point is that that's *wildly* different than Abu v Schakowsky

Extremely old! And he's also been objectively one of the most beneficially influential politicians on the national scene. Barring that sort of (rare) effectiveness, we should have a strong presumption toward Just Fuckin Retire Already. And the absence of that presumption has been a genuine calamity
