A New Soul for the Grand Old Party This country needs Progressive Republicans. A Democratic Party is in power here in California, but who has power in the Democratic Party? Corporations, lobbyists, billionaires. Can a progressive movement in the Democratic Party succeed? Maybe. But so far, the progressives have not found success in accomplishing most of their stated goals. The number one thing that prevents a progressive revolution from seizing power in the Democratic Party is the existence of the great- bogeyman. "If you split the party, then the Republicans will win, and they're worse than us." The conservative democrats will keep their seats as long as they can point to the other party as the "true enemy" -- vote blue, because voting for Republicans is unconscionable. But what if the other party wasn't led by monsters? What if instead of white supremacy, trickle down economics, and rejection of science, the Republican Party was the party of common sense, common workers, and common morals? What if the Progressive Republicans made a comeback? The party of Abraham Lincoln, Hiram Johnson, Ida B. Wells, and countless other progressives doesn't exist in America today. That Republican party is dead. But a few of us are trying to bring it back to life. We want to take back the name of the Republican Party from the nazis who have seized it and corrupted it. That’s the number of donations we need TODAY from Davis to begin building the resources to hold Trump and his cabinet accountable and defend the progress we’ve made these past four years.
