I have such a way with words sometimes.

If you are or know a German, could you tell me if you/they prefer to play #Skat with or without #Ramsch, and if so what penalties and rules you use?

No specific reason I am asking, but I really do want to know.

Our #rummy game is 10 years old today! They grow up so fast...

I have a new hobby: it involves watching the Google Play robot automatically testing our app by aimlessly clicking around, failing to move checker pieces around, opening ads, and sometimes managing to play a single card before swapping to a new game.

Just before the weekend: a very interesting video from @polygon.com on the history of playing cards and why they are fun!

Much like @doomquasar.bsky.social, we're addicted to solitaires too! Makes working at a card game website somewhat tricky.

Typicially in Iceland the 2nd of January sees many stores closed or with reduced hours due to inventory counting. Here at Cardgames 2nd of January is spent catching up on unread emails that piled up over the holidays.

Happy new years!

Trying to learn American Standard bidding over the last few weeks I have a newfound respect for #Bridge players. My brain - and Bill's - has started to smoke more than a little: a thousand rules to know who bids what and why, all that need to be boiled down into something the robots can understand!

Hello! If cardgames.io were to implement #Bridge, would you prefer Rubber Bridge or Chicago Bridge?

Bill and the gang have been playing hundreds of online games of #Canasta today, and with each game completed and each bug found I get more and more confident that the system works. Hopefully multiplayer Canasta will release later this week!

#Canasta! We have a #new #game now!

Go give it a try and then tell me what you think so I can make it better!

The worst bit when making #games is the bit where you have to make sure the thing looks decent on tiny phone resolutions: several hours of fiddling with #css, making incremental changes you're not sure actually made anything better.

Bill's hard at work moving some servers around, and while he's promised to be very careful there's always something that goes wrong.

You can expect that cardgames.io might temporarily go down intermittently today while we finish our migrations.

This week on Facebook, multiple spam bots sent me a message saying that our page is being deleted for various silly reasons

Previously at least the bots had the decency to name themselves "Meta Support" or "Account Security Agent", at this point they've just fully given up.

Over the last 30 days, over seven centuries of human attention got spent playing our games, split over millions of ~15 minute sessions.

I need not tell y'all, but that is a lot of Solitaire.

It only took 11 years, but face-down cards now automatically flip themselves face-up when playing solitaire. This daring code change took me all of ten minutes, a truly Herculean effort.

This is a very late night post entirely unrelated to card games. Don't tell my boss: This is just our little secret.
