It's wild to think that Pax Unplugged is here again. And soon too will we!

If you happen to see Dave, or Ryan with his daughter's faithful canine companion, feel free to say hello! In the meantime, we travel...

Seems like one of those days where everyone decided to launch their crowdfunding game at the same time. Any ones specifically catch your attention?

It's been another great Indy outing seeing so many familiar faces, meeting new ones, and watching publisher and gamer alike so excited about games.

We'll keep posting pictures of the event over the next couple days. But for now, we have to get this guy home!

There's plenty of 2025 releases in store at Alley Cat Games, including the family-weight titles Timber Town and Station to Station, and 3 new tiny box games in Sept alone - such as the adorable Barbecubes here.

(Also, someone was hungry.)

I don't think people realize just HOW big the new kaiju are in @restorationgames.bsky.social upcoming Battle Monster game until it's seen in person.

Even the 3D printed prototype conveys the grand scale of the pending monster fights to come...

This little guy may be afraid of the ghosts in Red Raven Games' Above & Below: Haunted, but fear not! — this new standalone village setting is available now!

It's day 3 at Gen Con! He's still excited, but *someone* is having a hard time getting going today...

Good morning from Day 1 of Gen Con!

The morning started off a bit rainy so we found someone to warm things up for us.

Just a few hours before we roll out to hopefully see many of you at Gen Con! And we're excited to report our daughter's beloved canine companion is coming once more to keep Ryan company (and check out this year's games). If you see them, be sure to say hola to Hola!

Historically, I haven't done much in the realm of solo gaming, but decided to wade in a little more today with the CYOA style card game FateFlip: Washed Ashore by #alleycatgames & #redcatgames.

Not a difficulty thing at all - but I may have a new record how for fast I've died in a game. ☠️

Also, this flavor gag may be a personal favorite - for anyone who has ever worked with 'official' documents.
February 20, 2025 at 10:56 PM
So, how does this 48 page rulebook spread do? At first glance, stellar.

Non-cluttered pages? Check.
Well delineated sections? Check.
Lots of examples? Check.
Reminder tooltips? Check.
Quirky flavor boxes? Check.

It's impressive.

The Company Records book is the smaller of the two. It serves a dual purpose.

First it acts as an addendum for rules variants, solo mode, goal tiles, etc.

Second is entire sections devoted to in-game flavor.

Sign us up for Pizza World ASAP!

Under the SECOND support tray we find all the punchboard - more than a half dozen decently thick (3mm) sheets full of rocket-y goodness.

Yes, it's chock full of visual appealing tiles, but we LOVE this little cutout in the sheet corners for easy removal. Superb design move there for extraction.
February 20, 2025 at 10:34 PM
And that's the end!

Kidding. But we briefly did think that!

So let's go further...somehow
February 20, 2025 at 10:30 PM
Next are the Employee Handbook, which is essentially a player aid in booklet form with action and iconography definitions and How To tips within the game.
February 20, 2025 at 10:28 PM
After that comes the 'market board', a small fold-out board. One thing for sure is with this galactic game you WILL need some space.
February 20, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Another thing about the player boards is their quality thickness, coming in (I think at 4mm). Definitely a trend for this game it seems!
February 20, 2025 at 10:17 PM
After that comes the indented dual-layer player boards, also with plenty of stuff to process in this galactic job!
February 20, 2025 at 10:17 PM
Taking out and unfolding the board immediately showcases a classic Lacerda-style layout done by the masterful @ianotoole.bsky.social.

Certainly lots to do in this game from the looks of it!
February 20, 2025 at 10:13 PM
Putting them aside, we find the folded up game board and more player pieces with silk screening
February 20, 2025 at 10:10 PM
Under that support layer we fund the employee Training Manual (rulebook), and Company Records (appendix).

We'll put those aside for now and come back to them.
February 20, 2025 at 9:58 PM
Right. Let's dive down to the next level. Spelunking for cardboard!
February 20, 2025 at 9:52 PM
The last items on this layer are the cardboard card holders and cards themselves. Decently durable, and some nice graphic design to boot on the sides.

The cards feel and look nice, but are *slightly* thinner than what we anticipated compared to everything else so far. But not overly so!
February 20, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Putting those aside we see the next layer, with more molded trays and the player components. The colors pop nicely and are simple but sturdy. Super hard to not immediately want to start tinkering with those bolts...
