I bought this before Elon went crazy
Many people do. That is exactly why @mkreutzfeldt.bsky.social made his point initially. Many (most?) people are not aware that Hybrid Electric Vehicles just are efficient petrol cars.

As @suncloudswe.bsky.social pointed out, Toyota, the biggest HEV producer, happily pushed that misunderstanding.

Pure petrol vs HEV is misleading as it implies the cars would drive on anything other than petrol.

And btw 50% is far to optimistic, isn't it?

Yes!

It makes sense as they fall in between. They can be powered by both inputs.

I agree in as much that the petrol-diesel distinction doesn’t make too much sense in this context.

Fundamentally the really meaningful comparison is fossil-fuelled vs electric. And HEVs are fully fossil fuelled.

"After all, HEVs have a battery and isn't pure petrol. By definition 🙂"
That is what he wrote and what I answered to.

And HEVs cannot be charged as they lack the plug-in part. Hence they run purely on petrol.
They are 100% fossil fuelled cars.
January 27, 2026 at 12:56 PM
HEVs are pure petrol in the sense that their sole source of energy is petrol.

Which alternative would you recommend?

Isn't it called Île-de-Sein in English too? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%8El...

Mercator or not, it is the largest island in the world.

And it does actually look pretty big if overlapped with the U.S.

Trump bietet ihnen auf jeden Fall auch keine.

"Venezuelans at celebration parties in Miami could not believe it, insisting that Trump had misspoken. His plan appears to be for Venezuela to remain under the day-to-day rule of a senior chavista, with its democratically elected leaders excluded and its wealth controlled by American corporations."
Donald Trump wants to run Venezuela, and dominate the western hemisphere
Snatching Nicolás Maduro and attempting to take control of Venezuela and its oil is an extraordinary display of the new “Donroe doctrine”

That's not true at all. In Germany the fuss about the closest we have, AfD politicians, is enormous and they have not been voted in at all (yet).

AfD gets 20-25% nationwide, which is pretty much in line with the Trump disapproval numbers you shared.

Absolutely. It was really only the focus on Tesla that surprised me. Both because I don't think it's so central to their current business model and certainly not their stock price. The latter is driven by autonomy, AI and idiocy.

Tesla: "which involves charging drivers every month for subscription features and software upgrades that expire when a car changes hands"

Is this really such an important part of their business? I thought that only a minority of Tesla owners pay for premium or FSD.
