Read the book again. It’s a complicated narrative and the Dresden firebombing is part of a quite complicated web of incidents.
Is the time travel «based on» Einstein? Who treated his wife horribly, was a mysogynist and a racist and a xenophobe. KV using Irving’s fabulated number probably not as bad.

The Arctic is melting, temperatures rise four times faster than the global average.
In the 1990s, this would be a preposterous notion.
It's reality.
The chart shows temperature rankings by month since 1979, in the Arctic. It charts a slow-motion detonation, with catastrophic consequences.

The Global Seed Vault from above.
The concrete entrance marks where the new and now narrower tunnel begins. There have been landslides at Longyearbyen, requiring the safer relocation of hundreds of buildings.
The V-shaped berm is supposed to protect against a landslide covering the entrance. /5

Statsbygg, charged with carrying out repairs, claimed "the artificial refrigeration will help the permafrost do its job of keeping the vault safe".
The image below is from the repairs. You see the famous tunnel entrance in the background. The new generators are housed in the foreground structure. /4

Svalbard was thought a "natural freeze chamber", keeping seeds safe during even a long catastrophe.
Now, the ground is unstable, the hill surrounding the vault is warming up and there is rain in winter.
Eight years after opening, repairs were necessary to the entrance tunnel. /3

Houses at #Longyearbyen now have rain gutters.
It used to be too cold there for anything but snow to fall, and the snow was blown off roofs by strong winds.
When the Seed Vault opened in 2008, the permafrost had begun melting.
Svalbard was no longer "an Arctic desert". /2 tinyurl.com/yjyezz36
Thawing permafrost makes big trouble for world's northernmost town
Houses are sagging in Longyearbyen and the unstable ground around the famous seed vault is now frozen artificially while the entrance to the tunnel is being re-built.

Blocked Lone Skum on twitter before he bought it, his launching Idiocracy IRL was too obvious to ignore.
This is what I get in a search. Bliss, and unaffected by his removal of the blocking function!
