I feel its close to the...competent neutral councillor who gives good advice and is then totally ignored by the foolish or arrogant king. But yeah...wise seer? Competent councilmen?

Its a shame as did like where i thought the series would go but well...we get two book three and it fizzles out...and sadly i think we will never see the series continue.

That is fair...especially at the start. I did read it at like 19ish as well so i may have been less critical and more ohhh the kewl thieves being clever and so on.
