Right! Who knows anymore? All I can say is I see any small win as a tactical move to take away more some other way. They are so deeply regressive in all other ways that I can’t believe that they simply think this should stand.

“Never forget” is not a call for hate and neither should “never again” be allowed to shrink its meaning.

In the US people utter “never forget” regarding the Sept11 attacks. The lesson isn’t the bundle specific people. It’s to remember the heroes who helped save people. The way NYC came together to support and help each other. The friends and family that were lost.

The comparison matters because of the conditions that gave rise to the dehumanization didn’t exist in a vacuum. They were a thread linked to material conditions paired with the scapegoating of groups of people.

To the Germans who feel like utterance of the word Nazi is too strong when addressing those who enable genocide, you have willingly learned the wrong lesson from history.

Even if it's just the off-topic channel, I think it's a great sign when a community is genuinely interested in others rather than just maximizing what they squeeze out of a technology. People are too interesting to just keep things purely technical and on topic.

There are a few blessed verifiers besides Bluesky but they all seem much more focused on journalists than anyone else. I’d prefer to have the ability to subscribe to someone I know as a verifier than some opaque org.
