BUT ALSO: Citizens and perm residents should carry copies of documentation. Undocumented folks carry proof that they've been in the country 2+ years. Getting out of detention can be a royal and expensive PITA and your loved ones might not know where you are. 2/end

Fellow profs: I'm hearing reports about ICE agents racially profiling at subway stops, etc. Please talk to your students about what to do if they're stopped. They have the right to remain silent. They can ask, "Am I under arrest? Am I free to go?" 1/x
