Chelsea got behind our 2xDMs as VP/MC seemed not to be well coordinated in press especially 1st half; Today, KCC seemed to clearly be more DM with Mariona as the 6/8. Do you think having more defined roles in DM can solve the issue of getting run through, played behind & handling direct opponents?

Posed a related question for podcast - did Villa exploit this “issue” by turning us around with the Hanson substitution to then press us high knowing our long out ball is weaker. I think this is a common tactic teams employ when Leah W is out

It seemed like we lacked confidence to play through the press in the 2nd half and went long repeatedly from DvD. 2 related questions: 1. Did Villa’s change to bring off Daly and add Hanson’s speed turn us around more and force us to build back to front? Did that change Villas press and block us up?

Chloe Kelly mentioned LCL switching between 3 & 4 in build up frustrating the Arsenal press before they figured it out. Any lessons from issues in this game for other teams about pressing Arsenal or playing thru our press (or was it just that LCL was an unknown)?

Great players look even better in finals for at least 2 reasons IMHO 1. They do raise their game even above their normal exceptional levels, 2. Their direct opponents are exceptional too so you see them do things that go unnoticed against “normal” players. LW is exceptional both on the pitch and off

It looks like Stina’s job is to ensure Carter and not LW is playing the first pass out. England gained momentum with the CB switch exactly because Stina wasnt on Leah for a few mins and then Sweden went back to that and momentum dropped again. Stina running off Carter, blocking build up through Leah

Seems like the criteria for Arsenal signing wingers this summer is to get anyone who can cause problems for Katie McCabe 😉. High bar to meet for any winger and Kelly and Smith fill clear needs.

Captains performance in 1st half too, so important for a young team in a home tournament. Wally defending, covering, attacking, dictating tempo and constantly organizing everyone around her. Her pass under press created a 5v3 for Switz leading to the goal

So much great stuff to re-watch. Wondering if you could include Kiwior in the analysis - would love to hear a little more on his contribution to the clean sheet since he was targeted by Mbappe mostly unsuccessfully even though he is generally overlooked other than hoping he doesn’t cost us. Thanks!
