True enough, and you can argue that she's a protagonist in the Hyrule Warriors games. BUT Echoes of Wisdom is, to my knowledge, the first time Zelda's the protagonist in a Nintendo made Zelda game. Not a third party one.

McCarthy and his ilk that persecuted anyone that they THOUGHT might be a communist, ruining countless lives.
And I'm sure I missed some.
There's really a lot to choose from.
Of course the current GOP are the first trying to overthrow democracy, so there's that.

Seriously though I love Linkle. I wish Nintendo would give us a game with her, even if it's just a spin-off or something.
I won't give up hope though. We did finally get our 'Zelda as Protagonist' game this year.
