Quite geeky dad of 2 beautiful cats. Improviser at MissImp Improv, storyteller, occasional scribbler. Designer, book-wrangler at Aconyte Books. Books, cats, and LEGO.
Dammit, second bag... The other books I picked up last week. The Peter Cushing Scrapbook is from the excellent little Whitstable museum, which has a heap of well-curated Cushing ephemera.

Very restrained book acquisitions while down in Kent. Some pleasing rarities though - the last of the G1 Transformers annuals, decent Enid Blyton magazine, and it looks like I am now collecting the pulp magazine instances of John Wyndham stories (goddamn it). I'll post some interiors later on.

I'm not sure this is going to be a good book.

IN WATERMELON SUGAR: very STRANGE & pleasing post-apoc weirdness, MICKEY7: great funny SF with sadness & existential angst, THE DREAM QUEST OF UNKNOWN KADATH: gorgeous Lovecraft, THE VISITOR: great fun with the Hellboy mob, THE MERCY OF GODS: massive scifi - a new saga of super aliens vs scientists.

S.N.U.F.F. by Victor Pelevin. This was such a strange book. A rich dystopia of oppression and manipulation of facts and reality. Super-weird, quite hard work while having a fairly light tone. I'm still not sure what to make of it!

Lovely things I vaguely sort of inherited/thieved. I'd rather like a full set, but I like the two transfers that are left.

May the Fourth Be With You. A few fun Star Wars books from the olden days.

I have the Tie-fighter pop-up and two other dinky Star Wars books by Running Press.
I'd love to work on a pop-up book! Ideally with the marvels produced by Matthew Reinhart. Ah, the future...

Thanks for joining us last night at the Museum of Making to talk about LEGO, creativity, and building with bricks. I brought way too much stuff to show folks! Lovely to meet everyone and see people having fun with LEGO. Hopefully we'll get to do this again!

Lovely book acquisition today (from Headway charity shop, Beeston): The Color of War, Spanish Civil War 1936-39. Gorgeous artwork throughout, though it had me at the stamp-filled endpapers anyway.

Some of the books I have read since Christmas. Top 5 (in no order): Dark Matter by Michelle Paver, Rant by Chuck Palahniuk, Cuckoo Song by Frances Hardinge, The Reproductive System by John Sladek, and The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt - all filled me with feelings, excitement and delight.

Absolutely killer IT'S A TRAP! THE IMPROVISED STAR WARS SHOW tonight in Leicester. The audience title was "The Ascension of the Jet" - just perfect. I played... A Sith padawan (Darth Christingle), a bandy-legged droid barman, Northern Leia and Scottish Han Solo. I murdered my master as firewood.
