I suspect for both PoE2 and LoG2 it was people trying out the first one based on hype and deciding they weren't actually into it enough to buy the second one, tbh.

They had a demo out during a Next Fest. Liked how fleshed out all the NPCs were in the demo village. The combat was, uh, barely passable.
