I was kindly invited to join my first artist telephone game this year. While I don't frequently draw, it was really fun! It was also fascinating to see that even though I accidentally colored it while the screen had blue light on, somehow it naturally evolved back to the original palette lol.

I made this short manga for a local exhibition (not selected). The goal was to represent the culture of my country, Mexico, through manga.

I wanted to mix the wonderful expression of manga with one of the most representative Mexican art styles- Huichol art, made with colorful beads!

"All your prayers, emotions, and desires..." "One day you will relive them as colorful visions" "Soon you will know how to give them form with your own hands." "I will be your guide, Imari" "Wherever you see the eagle, you will know that my soul is with you." "Wherever you see the eagle..." However, brother... the eagle continues its flight toward the sun, forever moving away from me. But Now I find hundreds of beads that glimmer with a faint shine. Now I understand. These beads are the color of tears... painted by sorrow. But perhaps... they are also painted by the joy that memories bring. These beads hold the vibrations of laughter and kind words. They emerge from the footprints we leave on the earth, and are painted by the echoes of the alleys in our town. They are the blood of the heart, and they burn with the sun’s caress. They feel the weight of each day and each night, absorbing the light of dreams shared under the night sky. They are the memory of the earth, and the whispers of the wind. They shine with every song and every story... and they are colored by the voices of the people we love. "Wherever you see the eagle, you will know that my soul is with you"
