I think the author is extremely talented, so far I'm about 50 pages in and the world building is interesting. Setting is 1830s London England, at Oxford University. The magic system hasn't fully been introduced yet, but it's extremely well researched and I think my IQ will go up after finishing it 🤣

If you're going to, make sure you read the trigger warnings first. In book one, most of the bad stuff is in one chapter but the whole series really dives into the cruelties of war and war crimes

Do you read fantasy with darker themes? I'd recommend anything by R.F. Kuang if you're looking for more sophisticated writing and world building. Though she really pushes the boundary sometimes and I'd look up some TWs
