Why fascist? I suppose it makes it easier to dismiss them, or even kill them, if you call them fascist, as we’ve seen in the USA.
But which bit is fascist?

Because carrying a placard about ending genocide in Gaza isn’t arrestable. Why lie?
And why is anyone liking this or reposting it? Are they stupid, or just happy to lie too?

I just don’t see how amusing asides or plaintive ‘why oh why’s about how fat ugly and uneducated these dreadful people are will achieve anything other than to rile them up.
Certainly not going to ‘smash’ anything from your lounge. And the masked rent-a-mobs are equally repulsive. It’ll fizzle out.

Completely the wrong tactic. Ignore it and it will pass with the summer. Isn’t it a tiny minority?
The problem is you can’t just say ‘racism is bad’, it inevitably deteriorates into sneering abuse, often class based, and reveals how insulated and out of touch most of you are. Grist to their mill?

Rarely on here. But there has to be someone politely raising an eyebrow, or it’s just a pointless exercise in onanism. Which seems really desperate.
Don’t worry, I think I’ll leave you all to it.

Attempts to portray her as a new Adolf Eichmann are as fatuous as pretending she’s a modern day Rosa Parks. Both sides are using her as a poster girl for their particular cause.
Please don’t pretend you’re not doing it too.

Well, the original tweet was obviously in anger. She found the reaction to it ‘funny’/surprising/ bizarre.
As you say, details matter.

Such insight. You’ll be telling me that St Andrew was a Jewish fisherman next. Or there’s no such thing as a Welsh dragon.

I know I’m the dissenting voice of misery, but I really hope everyone here realises that it’s lovely BECAUSE hardly anyone is there, and the people who are there look after it.
Because it’s not obvious from the comments.

Should everywhere look like Birmingham? Most people don’t want to live there, and middle class people like you don’t want to holiday or even visit there. They want to come here. Which is only nice because it ISNT full of Legoland houses, or high rises and their occupants. Should we concrete it over?
August 17, 2025 at 12:45 PM
What you need to remember is we are a silly country with a high proportion of perpetually outraged twats.
For the people who hide on Bluesky from people who dare to disagree with them, the worst thing that happened in the last 5 years was the PM eating some cake with his work colleagues in a garden.

I’m sure they will if Vance or any of his party rape/sexually assault any village 12yr olds. Weirdly, people get upset at that sort of thing happening, especially if they didn’t want those people dumped in their village in the first place.
Odd that protesting against American unwanted guests is fine

Just what the fuck do you think you are doing? @teamlabouruk.bsky.social

Seems hard on the Irish, who have suffered for centuries from foreign invasion and settlers, to finally throw off the shackles to create their own nation, only to be invaded again by foreign settlers no one wanted or voted for.
And to be told off for being backward and ignorant by the English.
August 11, 2025 at 6:47 AM
Once again the idle middle classes forget what they’re supposed to be protesting, and make it about something else entirely.
I suspect for these people it’s the process and the self-congratulation that comes with it.
The Gaza issue recedes into the background.

Which is why Otto quoted his quote?
August 9, 2025 at 5:37 PM
The Irish President not getting involved in politics there.
You only like him because he IS political, and you happen to agree with his politics. Try really hard to imagine a President you DON’T agree with.
Not an argument for an elected President.

But this is how it works.
Our King has exactly the amount of power that our sovereign Parliament is prepared to give him. None.

As with the US, big trading blocs imposing protective costs on outsiders is a pain and an inconvenience. But it’s hardly the fault of those outside the bloc.
An argument we are happy to make against Trump, but not the EU.
There’s no principle at stake, just whatever affects me personally.
August 7, 2025 at 8:36 AM
Did you spot a lovely marble piece while on holiday?
Also, isn’t it the EU demanding that you pay extra?
August 7, 2025 at 6:06 AM
If I wanted reasoned analysis on this subject that is no way parti pris, I’m not sure Pink News is the first place I would go. But I suppose that’s not really what anyone here wants. That’s not why Bluesky exists, is it.

It’s almost as if the Internet is world wide or something. Like a massive web.
