Working at sea in the days before onboard internet when your only chance of getting online was at a PC in a seaman’s mission or an internet cafe, I kept myself secure with a complete Linux OS on a small thumb drive and would boot from that before browsing or emailing home. Worked like a dream.

I tried to give an old laptop a new lease of life by installing a Linux distro. I didn’t get far, my laptop needed some original manufacturers applications to run their proprietary hardware, most worryingly, to keep the battery operating at a safe temperature.
I understand this is common in laptops.

I complained at the collection spot, a small store in the middle of nowhere. The shopkeeper told me it happened all the time. They drop notes in several doors en route, drop all the undelivered parcels at his shop and go home 30 minutes early 😠

After a “Sorry we missed you note” and having to make an hour journey to collect parcel from my “local” delivery office, when I was damned sure I had been in, the next time, when the van pulled up, I walked out to meet it only to see the driver already writing me another “Sorry …” note 😡

“Played with AI” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the case of BL. The struts are a mess, one of the main floats is barely connected to the plane and there is an outrigger float under only one wing.
