Speaker Skelly, I write to you with a level of fury and disgust I did not know was possible from a citizen simply watching Ontario politics until I saw your appalling, biased, and frankly disgraceful behaviour in the legislature during your recent treatment of MPP Sol Mamakwa. MPP Mamakwa, one of the only Indigenous voices in Queen's Park, was speaking truth to power-calling out Premier Doug Ford for lying to Indigenous people regarding Bill 5, a piece of legislation that deeply affects Indigenous lands and lives. Your response? You cut him off, denied him the right to finish, and then —with visible confusion waited for direction from another (unidentified) MPP before you acted to have him removed from the chamber. You did not just silence a sitting elected official-you silenced an Indigenous leader speaking up for his people. You did not even know how to enforce the rules without being told what to do. That makes you unqualified, biased, and dangerous in the role of Speaker, where neutrality, respect for democratic debate, and constitutional integrity are non-negotiable. I am demanding an immediate independent investigation into your conduct, including but not limited to: • Your decision to remove MPP Sol Mamakwa from the chamber. • Your inability to make that decision independently; • The identity and conduct of the other MPP who directed you to act; • The systemic biases that led to this absolutely repugnant moment in Ontario politics. This is not just a procedural issue—it is a moral and ethical failure. It is about silencing Indigenous voices, protecting power, and turning Queen's Park into a place where truth is punished and lies are protected. Let me be clear: you and every member of the Conservative caucus who stood by and allowed this to happen are a disgrace not just to public office, but to the basic principles of decency and humanity.
